'Give Thanks' Framed Artwork
This Thanksgiving and fall themed piece of artwork would make a great addition to any home, during any season. It's easy to make, and requires very little time and materials. You will need:
- Burlap
- A picture frame. Any size will do, but I used an 8.5" x 11".
- A piece of cardstock to fit the frame, or the piece that was in the frame.
- Pressed fall leaves
- Paint markers or permanent markers
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun
Step 1: Cut the burlap so that it's about 1 inch bigger than the cardstock an all four sides.
Step 2: Cut the corners out. This is important for eliminating the bulk around the edges that will make it hard to put into the frame later.
Step 3: Using small dabs of hot glue, secure the burlap to the cardstock. If your hot glue gun has a low setting, this is a good time to use it because you will get a lot on your fingers since it goes through the burlap.
Step 4: Glue down the rest of the sides. Do the opposite side first from where you started, and keep it pulled tight without bending the paper.
Step 5: Arrange the leaves however you want them. Keep in mind the width of the frame so that none of them end up being covered by it.
Step 6: Glue down the leaves, being careful not to break them.
Step 7: Using the paint markers or permanent markers, write a message on the burlap. You can use a stencil for this, write it in pencil first, or just go for it and do it freehand.[/caption] Burlap has a tendency to soak up the paint as you write, so you will have to put several layers of each color to make sure it shows up bright. I used three different colors that went with the colors of the leaves and the overall fall theme.
Step 8: Carefully put it in the frame and then put the backing on, and you're ready to hang it on the wall or set it up somewhere that everyone can see it!
