<p>We were super excited when Kim sent us these photos. Here is what she wrote to us (info@burlapfabric.com &#8211; feel free to share photos and ideas, we love posting here!):</p>
<p>Thought I would share my recent ornaments that I made by running the burlap right through my printer. Instead of using large stickers like many suggested, I used Elmer&#8217;s spray glue and cut the burlap close to a 8.5 x 11 size, sprayed one side of the fabric and stuck it to a heavy stock paper, not card stock though. It worked splendidly.</p>

<p>This is what I made for me daughter with one of your pillows. They are Xmas gifts for her.<br />
The lace is from her wedding day. It was used to decorate the church pews, the pearls were also used in the pews as well as in her dinner table flower arrangements and the broach was one of two used on her wedding cake.</p>

<p>One problem I’ve run into with burlap is the raw edges tend to fray. When you’ve put a lot of work into something only to have it fall apart, it can be discouraging. So, here’s one way I’ve found that works well to keep that raw edge from fraying. Here, I made a small coaster to demonstrate. This is the same method I used for the <a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/mini-burlap-tablecloth/">mini burlap tablecloth</a> I made.<span id="more-364"></span></p>
<p>Step 1: Gather your materials. You will need:<br />
- burlap square cut to the size you want it<br />
- netting or other material cut 1 inch longer and wider than burlap square<br />
- cross stitch floss<br />
- needle<br />
- scissors<br />
- hot glue gun</p>
<p>Step 2: Center the burlap on top of the netting.</p>
<p>Step 3: Fold in the corners of the netting. Press them flat on the folds with your fingers and add a dab of hot glue beneath the corner.</p>
<p>Step 4: Fold up the edges and glue these at the corners as well. Be sure that you are tucking in all the netting at the edges to keep it laying flat and looking nice. Press the edges with your fingers along the folds.</p>
<p>Step 5: Sew around the edges using whatever type of stitch you choose. Larger stitches tend to work better with the burlap. I chose to do a simple straight stitch.</p>
<p>And you’re done. The most time consuming part was the sewing, and that only took about 5 minutes, so you’ll definitely be able to make a lot of these in a short amount of time. These are perfect for setting vases or other table decorations on for a fun rustic flair.</p>

<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-11.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-353" title="flower 2 11" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-11-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a>This burlap rose is simple and easy to make, but it looks beautiful. You can use regular burlap if you want, but I chose to use jute webbing for my roses. You can also attach them to wire or other stems, or use them in other ways to decorate.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Here is a video tutorial and you can read below for written instructions:</p>
<p><iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_tmh9h3IpkM" frameborder="0" width="420" height="315"></iframe></p>
<p>Step 1: Gather your supplies. You will need:<br />
- jute webbing<br />
- hot glue gun<br />
- paint or permanent markers (optional)<br />
- scissors<span id="more-351"></span></p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-1.png"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-352" title="flower 2 1" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-1-300x225.png" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>Step 2: Cut a strip of webbing about 18 inches long. Then, cut that strip into 1/3’s. If you’d like, decorate the webbing with the markers. I chose to do a line of yellow and orange along the black part of the webbing, on opposite sides.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-2.png"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-354" title="flower 2 2" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-2-300x225.png" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>Step 3: Fold one end in, about .025 inches, and glue down.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-3.png"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-355" title="flower 2 3" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-3-300x225.png" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>Step 4: Fold the jute webbing toward you.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-4.png"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-356" title="flower 2 4" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-4-300x225.png" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>Step 5: Roll the center onto the folded piece.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-5.png"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-357" title="flower 2 5" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-5-300x225.png" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>Step 6: Fold strip away from you and continue rolling. From there, build up your center by alternating folding the strip away from you and toward you. Be sure to secure it often from the bottom using your hot glue gun.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-6.png"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-358" title="flower 2 6" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-6-300x225.png" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>Step 7: Once the center is built up, you can begin rolling the strip only away from you. Tilt it away from the center as you glue it in place for a wider flower.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-7.png"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-359" title="flower 2 7" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-7-300x225.png" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a><br />
<a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-8.png"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-360" title="flower 2 8" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/flower-2-8-300x225.png" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>Step 8: Tuck the last little piece beneath and glue it to the bottom.</p>

<p>And you’re done! It took me about 5 minutes to make each of these flowers, and they’re a great addition to any rustic bouquet, whether you’re carrying it down the aisle or putting it in the center of a table.</p>

<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-1.jpg"><img class="alignleft" title="Give Thanks Framed Art (1)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-1-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>This Thanksgiving and fall themed piece of artwork would make a great addition to any home, during any season. It’s easy to make, and requires very little time and materials. <span id="more-333"></span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>You will need:<br />
- Burlap<br />
- A picture frame. Any size will do, but I used an 8.5” x 11”.<br />
- A piece of cardstock to fit the frame, or the piece that was in the frame.<br />
- Pressed fall leaves<br />
- Paint markers or permanent markers<br />
- Scissors<br />
- Hot Glue Gun</p>
<div id="attachment_335" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-2.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-335 " title="Give Thanks Framed Art (2)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-2-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Step 1: Cut the burlap so that it’s about 1 inch bigger than the cardstock an all four sides.</p></div>
<div id="attachment_336" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-3.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-336 " title="Give Thanks Framed Art (3)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-3-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Step 2: Cut the corners out. This is important for eliminating the bulk around the edges that will make it hard to put into the frame later.</p></div>
<div id="attachment_337" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-4.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-337 " title="Give Thanks Framed Art (4)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-4-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Step 3: Using small dabs of hot glue, secure the burlap to the cardstock. If your hot glue gun has a low setting, this is a good time to use it because you will get a lot on your fingers since it goes through the burlap.</p></div>
<div id="attachment_338" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-5.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-338 " title="Give Thanks Framed Art (5)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-5-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Step 4: Glue down the rest of the sides. Do the opposite side first from where you started, and keep it pulled tight without bending the paper.</p></div>
<div id="attachment_339" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-6.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-339 " title="Give Thanks Framed Art (6)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-6-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Step 5: Arrange the leaves however you want them. Keep in mind the width of the frame so that none of them end up being covered by it.</p></div>
<p>Step 6: Glue down the leaves, being careful not to break them.</p>
<div id="attachment_340" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-11.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-340 " title="Give Thanks Framed Art (11)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-11-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Step 7: Using the paint markers or permanent markers, write a message on the burlap. You can use a stencil for this, write it in pencil first, or just go for it and do it freehand.</p></div>
<p>Burlap has a tendency to soak up the paint as you write, so you will have to put several layers of each color to make sure it shows up bright. I used three different colors that went with the colors of the leaves and the overall fall theme.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-12.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-341 aligncenter" title="Give Thanks Framed Art (12)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-12-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<div id="attachment_342" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-13.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-342 " title="Give Thanks Framed Art (13)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Give-Thanks-Framed-Art-13-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Step 8: Carefully put it in the frame and then put the backing on, and you’re ready to hang it on the wall or set it up somewhere that everyone can see it!</p></div>

<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-17.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-310" title="Jute Webbing Pumpkin" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-17-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>I chose to make this little pumpkin out of black jute webbing, but you could use regular burlap as well. This is a pretty simple project, and I’ve broken it down into extra simple steps so it’s even more easy to follow and understand. This is the perfect project to do to get ready for Thanksgiving.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><iframe src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/53438486?badge=0" width="500" height="375" frameborder="0" webkitAllowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen allowFullScreen></iframe></p>
<p><span id="more-305"></span></p>
<p><strong>Step 1: Gather your supplies. You will need:</strong></p>
<p>-<a href="http://burlapfabric.com/jute-webbing">jute webbing</a><br />
-cross-stitch thread (orange)<br />
-big needle<br />
-scissors<br />
-dried beans to stuff with (or some type of batting)</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-1.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-308" title="Burlap Pumpkin" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-1-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 2:</strong> Cut the jute into 8 pieces that are about 2 inches wide. Cut one smaller one for the stem that should be about ½ inch wide.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-2.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-311 alignnone" title="Pumpkin (2)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-2-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 3:</strong> Thread your needle. I chose to use orange, but you could really use any color. Make sure you’re using a needle with a big eye to accommodate the thick thread.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-3.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-314" title="Pumpkin (3)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-3-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 4:</strong> Line up two pieces of the webbing. Both sides are the same, so there’s no wrong way to do this.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-41.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-313" title="Pumpkin (4)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-41-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 5:</strong> Sew the two pieces together. You want to use fairly large stitches to make sure you get all the fibers in there. And because burlap easily frays, make sure you give it a generous seam to keep it from pulling apart.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-5.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-315" title="Pumpkin (5)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-5-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 6:</strong> Open it up.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-6.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-316" title="Pumpkin (6)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-6-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 7:</strong> Line up another piece on top, and sew these together. This is where I tend to mess up and sew the wrong sides together, so be careful!</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-7.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-317" title="Pumpkin (7)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-7-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 8:</strong> Continue this until you’ve sewn all 8 pieces together.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-8.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-319" title="Pumpkin (8)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-8-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 9:</strong> Fold the wrong side together to join the ends and complete the circle.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-9.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-320" title="Pumpkin (9)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-9-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p>This is what it should look like once it’s all together:</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-10.jpg"><img title="Pumpkin (10)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-10-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 10:</strong> Pinch opposite sides together and secure them. Continue pulling opposing sides to the middle until they are all together.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-11.jpg"><img title="Pumpkin (11)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-11-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 11:</strong> Carefully turn right-side out and fill with beans.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-12.jpg"><img title="Pumpkin (12)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-12-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 12:</strong> Sew big stitches around the top part. It works best to do one per panel.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-14.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-324" title="Pumpkin (14)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-14-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 13:</strong> End in the same place that you began, with both string on the inside.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-15.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-325" title="Pumpkin (15)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-15-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 14:</strong> Pull on both strings until the bag closes shut, then tie the strings to each other. Cut off the knotted end, but leave the needle on.</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-16.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-326" title="Pumpkin (16)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-16-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
<p><strong>Step 15:</strong> Fold the stem in half and sew into place by going back and forth a few times, finishing securing the top of the pumpkin while sewing in the stem. And, you’re done!</p>
<p><a href="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-171.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-327" title="Pumpkin (17)" src="http://burlapfabric.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Pumpkin-171-300x225.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="225" /></a></p>
